Saturday Evening Tea Set Making - Intermediate (Mar-May)

$265.00

Saturdays from 4-7pm

March 28 – May 16 (8 weeks)

Instructor: Chen

In “Tea Set Making,” we will make wares to use with a teapot, and some objects for brewing tea that are not a teapot. This includes but is not limited to teacups, saucers, Gong Dao Bei(fair cup), Gaiwan (Lidded cup), and a Matcha bowl. We will discuss and practice throwing repeatable forms, throwing off the hump, and fitting pieces with the aid of simple tools that can be created at home.

The class will conclude with a potluck style gathering, where we will use our objects together and examine how they function. This class is intended for people who have previous experiences on the pottery wheel and can center and throw with 2 lbs of clay with little to no guidance.

Includes one 25 lb bag of clay. Bring your own basic set of tools or tools are available to share.

The instructor will send an email communication 1-2 weeks before class starts with additional details.
