Casey and Ali run a Raku firing during our end-of-session potluck!
Raku is an ancient Japanese technique in which the pieces are removed red hot from the kiln, placed in sawdust and other combustibles without oxygen, then dropped into water. The result is unpredictable, often metallic, and always exciting. We fire a Raku kiln about once a month outside the studio.
